Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman
Ahmed Bin Sulayem has been on the board of directors of DGCX since inception, and took charge as the new DGCX chairman on November 2007. The appointment of Ahmed Bin Sulayem adds momentum to the strategic growth plans of DGCX, which has witnessed remarkable growth right from its inception, both in terms of volumes traded as well as total revenue.
As the Executive Chairman of DMCC, he has spearheaded the success of DMCC in Dubai’s commodity market. Prior to joining DMCC in 2002, Ahmed was a director in ASTECO, one of the largest property management companies in Dubai.
Gautam Sashittal, Director
Gautam Sashittal is the Chief Executive Officer of DMCC, the government of Dubai Authority dedicated to establishing Dubai as the global gateway for commodity trade. Home to over 8,000 companies, the DMCC Free Zone is the largest and fastest growing Free Zone in the UAE. DMCC’s stewardship has seen Dubai grow into the third largest diamond trading centre in the world and the leading global bullion hub.
Mr. Sashittal was appointed the position of COO of DMCC in December 2009, and brings more than 25 years of experience in finance, treasury, accounting, risk management, corporate governance, controls and compliance, investor relations management, marketing and business development. He spent a large part of his career in the oil and gas industry with Royal Dutch Shell plc, and prior to joining DMCC, was the CFO of the Dubai Gold and Commodities Exchange (DGCX). Where he concurrently held the position of Chief Marketing Officer.
Sashittal has worked with a big four accountancy firm and has extensive experience in the oil and gas industry, having spent a large part of his career in a number of senior roles with Royal Dutch Shell Plc and more recently as CFO of Dragon Oil Plc, a Dublin and London listed independent oil and gas producer.
Jignesh Sanghvi, Director
Jignesh Sanghvi, DMCC’s Director joined the organisation over 10 years ago as business analyst.
Since then Jignesh has been instrumental in transforming the organisation – whether it meant successfully navigating through choppy waters during the global recession – or more recently digitalising the business to ensure DMCC’s employees and customers can operate as efficiently as possible.
With over 14 years of industry experience Jignesh is responsible for financial strategy and corporate governance, with a core objective to cement DMCC’s position as the global hub for commodities trade and enterprise. Strategic planning, strong financial leadership combined with maintaining the highest level of corporate governance are key drivers to succeed in this field.
Graduating with a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Gujarat University, Jignesh is a registered chartered accountant in India, United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates. He also received his postgraduate diploma in business administration with a specialisation in finance from Symbiosis Pune in 2007.
The award-winning CFO also took on the role of Company Secretary on DMCC’s Advisory Committee in 2015.
Abdul Wahid Al Ulama, Independent Director
Abdul Wahid Al Ulama is an Independent Director.
Abdul Wahid is currently a Member of the Board of Directors for the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA), and sits on both the DFSA’s Legislative and Regulatory Appeal committees. He is at member of the Board of Directors of Commercial Bank of Dubai, and is a certified arbitrator registered with the Dubai International Arbitration Center (DIAC) and with the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
Previously, Abdul Wahid was a senior advisor at Mubadala GE Capital PJSC (MGEC), a finance company regulated by the UAE Central Bank, and set up jointly by Mubadala and GE Capital. His role saw him strengthen the originations team and expand the company’s regional business network.Abdul Wahid has a Masters Degree in Maritime Law & International Trade from University College London.
